Tents. Following the last contest it was noted that the club tents are becoming worn and in need of extensive repairs. The Committee felt that it would be wise to look out for any tents of reasonable price for future replacement. Kate G4JAI had heard of a large frame tent for sale, but it was decided this was unsuitable, as was an alternative suggestion of a club ‘contest caravan'. We also have had an offer by G8HRZ to use scout tents when these are not in use by the scout group.

'SWR’ Bridge

John G4GVC suggested that the club should have an 'SWR' indicator for use with the FT1O1. At first it seemed most sensible to make one, but as no one felt they had enough time to build it, the treas said he would scrutinise prices of commercial units and report back later.

HF Field Day

Some arrangements were made concerning HF field day which seem to be going smoothly.

VHF Field Day

After a lively discussion, most of the committee felt that a merger with the Melton Club will be advantageous following last year's very successful event. The Melton Club will be formally approached and arrangements will commence with a view to acquiring the "Robin a Tiptoe" site again.

Operating Practice

Whilst the recent VHF/UHF contest was enjoyed by most participants several committee members noted that there had been an episode of bad operating. The committee unanimously agreed that such behaviour should be actively discouraged. All club members are therefore reminded that when operating any club station they should take pains to operate correctly and not bring the club into disrepute.
